Port Macquarie Triathlon Club is inviting all women (members and non-members) to join in the Women’s Only Race on Sunday, November 4 at McInherney Park.
The event is a fundraiser to support people who have breast cancer and their families.
People can choose to participate in the short course or social grade.
The short course consists of a 300 metre swim, nine kilometre bike ride and three kilometre run.
In 2018 the Port Macquarie Triathlon Club also introduced a social grade.
The social grade is for anyone who is not particularly interested in competition points and just wants to enjoy the endorphins of being on course for a triathlon.
In the social grade people can tailor the race to suit their own ability. They are welcome to use flippers in the swim, use a bike of their choice and might choose to skip the run altogether.
The club’s vice president Jo Pilgrim said it doesn’t matter if women have never done a triathlon in their life before.
“We offer a very supportive environment and women of all ages and experience are most welcome to attend,” she said.
“People can compete in a team or individually.”
Race sign on is from 6am. The race briefing is from 6.45am.
Entry to the event is free. Baked goods will be available for a gold coin donation and all proceeds will go to the cause.
There will be prizes and giveaways from Priceline Port Macquarie and Lorna Jane Port Macquarie.
