“It was a great first game of the season, bringing up a win with a comprehensive victory,” captain Ben Woodward said.
“We lost the toss and were made to field first. Nulla got away to a decent start before we pulled it back to dismiss them in the 35th over.”
Pirates bowlers Woodward (2-12), Connor Cook (1-22), Remo Remo (1-27) and Ben de Braun (1-32) were the wicket-takers.
Tom Connolly took a catch and Alex Horder executed an excellent run-out. Ambrose Humphreys kept a clean sheet, letting no byes through.
“Overall, it was an excellent effort in the field,” Woodward said.
“We performed brilliantly with the bat, chasing down Nulla's total in 34 overs for the loss of only three wickets.”
Other batsmen scores were Connolly (48), Jared Humphreys (31-not out) and Marty Moate (23) each making strong contributions to the tally. Humphreys and Connolly combined for a 72 run partnership.
The Humphreys pair each shared players' player honours.
The Pirates will face Wauchope RSL in the next round.
