The Christmas holiday family activity has been organised by former-Cardiff now local resident Scott Horner of Escape the Expected as part of a partnership with local businesses.
The missions provide self-guided escape walks around Port Macquarie's coastal tracks and town centre with GPS guidance from the W.I.S.E fictional spy agency.
Participants solve clues and puzzles along the way as they race a countdown timer in either the frantic Operation Mindfall or relaxed Operation Sip and Solve.
"We launched about a month ago for Operation Mindfall and today (December 20) for Operation Sip and Solve. There has been groups of two to six taking part with around 40 to 50 people so far," he said.
"We've looked around and there is probably no other activity in Port Macquarie that uses this technology to make an outdoor escape room. This is interactive and specific to Port Macquarie.
"We want to guide people away from their usual places and let them discover something in local tourism. By partnering with local restaurants and businesses we can offer discounts and clues at their venues, which all adds to the experience.
"It's time based as well so there is a bit of excitement to find the next clue in the next location. Groups can take photos along the way and enjoy the businesses we are partnered with.
"The aim is to get out with family and friends to enjoy what's around you in Port Macquarie."
Mr Horner said there will be a new Magic Portal challenge released in January featuring different collaborating local businesses and locations.
"People are gearing up for the Christmas period and it's time to get people outdoors and enjoying the surrounds in a fun way," Mr Horner said.
"We want the whole community to be involved and have everyone working together to provide the best experience."
