Local Indigenous artists were asked by the football club committee to enter the artwork competition which will be placed on the new club jerseys and training shirts to encourage cultural acceptance.
Indigenous artist Tony Clark's striking red and black pattern was chosen as the winner by community vote on November 29. Mr Clark has had a 20 year affiliation and has grandchildren playing with the club.
Redbacks member protection information officer Kayla White said the club's proactive approach to cultural development is a first for the Hastings League.
"At the moment we have three mockups of the design and we are voting on a final design, which will be on the jersey and also the training shirt for the season," Mrs White said.
"I think this is a good start after we had an Indigenous round in soccer and NAIDOC last year. That was a starting point for us to give out those positive feelings to develop a love and acceptance of culture.
"It's important to have a love and acceptance of culture all year round and this is something we talked about as a committee to make it bigger and bigger each year.
"As far as we know this (type of year round jersey) hasn't been done before and could be a first for soccer in the Hastings competition.
"It's already something widely encouraged in NRL teams, rugby league and it's starting to emerge in Oz Tag and netball competitions. We are pretty excited to lead by example and put something forward."
Artists were given the colours red, black and white to create a design and two designs were received by the club for the competition.
