A six-storey luxury apartment building earmarked for Pacific Drive will set the standard for future developments in the precinct, the developer believes.
The Abdallah family will develop the boutique apartment building, named Altitude 55, at 27 Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie, pending planning consent.
The development application is in progress with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Anthony Abdallah, a spokesperson for the family, said Altitude 55 would set the mark for other developments in the precinct due to the design and the build.
"We wanted something that captured the streetscape, captured the fact it is coming off the ocean, ensured it was oriented to north-east to get maximum light and stood out but blended in," Mr Abdallah said.
He said they wanted to make Altitude 55 unique, given its prominent spot.
The Abdallah family's long-term holiday house, along with two apartments, formerly stood on the site.
The address was also once home to a doctor's surgery.
The red brick building was demolished under existing DA approval.
Altitude 55, complete with distinctive curved terraces, is designed with 10 prestige apartments including a luxurious penthouse 55 metres above sea level.
The Abdallah family has engaged local businesses for the project.
They are architect Wayne Ellis, construction company CPG, interior designer Lory Suitor, project marketers Todd Bates and Steve Newman from McGrath Projects, Lauren Hawkes from Hawkes Conveyancing and Andrew Thompson from Strata Professionals as the body corporate strata manager.
McGrath Projects is asking potential buyers to register their interest. The apartments will hit the market after the DA approval.
The Abdallah family will retain half of the apartments with the remainder, including the penthouse, to be sold.
Mr Bates said there had not been another development of this nature along Pacific Drive for many, many years.
He said McGrath Projects had already received an overwhelming number of inquiries.
Mr Newman said the architect Wayne Ellis had designed a building which would be a landmark and it would be home to the premier penthouse in Port Macquarie.
The three-bedroom penthouse will span more than 370 square metres, offer 360 degree views and boast a rooftop garden and second entertainment space leading to the rooftop garden.
Altitude 55 is one of several developments in the pipeline along Port Macquarie's coastal strip.
