Sixteen teams including those from Melville High School, Camden Haven High School, MacKillop College, St Paul's College and Newman Technical College battled it out in the under-13, under-15 and under-18 divisions.
NRL game development officer Ben Stewart said there were 10 schools in total who had plenty of good numbers and it was pleasing to see the kids out playing football.
"The winners advance to the regional final in Port Macquarie in two weeks," Stewart said.
"It will be the winner of the Coffs Harbour region, the Manning and then we will take the top two from this region to get our top four.
"The winner then advances to the northern state final in Coffs Harbour. It's good to see the kids back playing schoolboy footy."
Newman Technical College were impressive early in the under-18 division with a number of their representative players starring.
"In the 13s and 15s Macksville, St Joey's and MacKillop are usually the stronger sides, but Camden Haven are starting to put some good schoolboy teams together so it's good to see them contesting it as well."
In the under-13s St Joseph's Regional High School and Macksville High School progressed.
In the under-15s St Joseph's Regional High School and Camden Haven High School went through.
In the under-18s, the impressive Newman Technical College went through alongside Macksville High School.
They will battle it out in the regional finals on June 17 in Port Macquarie.
