The reunion will bring together students born in the 1960s who attended Port Macquarie Primary School, St Joseph's Primary School, Port Macquarie High School, St Joseph's Regional College and the first students at Westport Primary School.
Reunion coordinator Monique Hill said the reunion would be a celebration of their lives.
"There was one bus route so all the kids that went to school knew each other," she said.
Miss Hill remembers people didn't lock their doors or their cars in those days.
"In holiday times, once we had done our house chores, we were on the beach until five o'clock in the afternoon," she said.
Peppermint Park and a CBD amusement centre were among the other hang-out spots.
"It was just the days of innocence," Miss Hill said.
The reunion will be staged between November 19 and 21 with the main event at Port Macquarie Racecourse on November 20.
The musical entertainment at the racecourse celebration will be provided by Who's Charlie and DJ Greg, also known as Greg's Disco.
"Come celebrate your life, raise a glass to those we've lost and and celebrate many more happy times in our golden years," Miss Hill said.
She said the reunion would have an economic spin-off with people expected to attend from all around Australia.
Tickets cost $50 a person for the November 20 event at the racecourse and breakfast the next day.
