A man was detected allegedly driving at more than 55km/h above the speed limit south of Port Macquarie at the weekend.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting routine patrols on the Pacific Highway, Kew, about 10pm on Saturday, April 18, when they detected a black BMW sedan allegedly travelling at 166km/h in the signposted 110km/h zone.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, was stopped and spoken to by police.
He was issued with a traffic infringement notice for speeding by more than 45km/h.
The man's licence was suspended immediately for six months.
