Port Macquarie will host its first virtual Seaside Scavenge on Saturday October 17.

Event is on from 9am until 4pm.
A virtual scavenge means that scavengers need to register online through Eventbrite to take part in this years scavenge.
Scavengers can choose to independently or as a household get out in their local area/street/river/beach, where ever they choose to collect trash, wearing gloves the entire time of the scavenge.
Once scavengers register through Eventbrite, scavengers get all the details of the event, videos links and livestreams on the day.
Scavengers will be provided with a link form to catalogue all the data collected for the Australian Marine Debris Database.
Local business are supporting this year's virtual scavenge by providing scavenges with some amazing prizes for completing their clean-up and JotForm.
Scavengers can then tune into the event by joining Facebook live at 4.30pm to announce the winners.
Port Macquarie Seaside Scavenge local leader Karen Fulton says the team is exciting to hold a virtual scavenge.
"We're very excited to hold our sixth Seaside Scavenge in Port Macquarie during this time of uncertainty," she said.
"It will be different to other years but we are hoping that many people in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region will get involved. "
Scavengers can do the clean-up close to home in their local area.
"At last year's Shelly Beach Seaside Scavenge, over 280kg of rubbish was collected by 182 people in just four hours.
"It is a great day out for the family doing your part for our local environment."

The event is organised by Seaside Scavenge which is a not-for-profit organisation who have been cleaning up our waterways and coastlines since 2015.
