The playground, called Red Ochre Park, is being built between Verne Prescott Retreat and Howell Avenue at Brierley Hill in Port Macquarie's Innes Lake area.
One nearby resident said having a young child, he thought the playground would be a good addition to the neighbourhood.
The playground will have an upper terrace with all ability equipment, a middle playground terrace and lower grass terrace.
Youngsters will have plenty of play equipment to choose from with a soccer goal net, all ability swing set, mini-trampolines, dancing snake swing, seesaw, climbing tower and slide, and all ability carousel.
A picnic shelter will have wheelchair access and there will be a disabled access ramp to the upper playground terrace.
The area will also feature landscaping, a drinking fountain and seats.
Red Ochre Park is identified as a project in Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's 2020-2021 operational plan.
Temporary fencing is in place around the site with the project planned for completion by mid-September, weather permitting.
