Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams, Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott, Manning Great Lakes Police District Commander, Acting Superintendent Paul Fuller and Laurieton Police Senior Constable Mick Walker unveiled the new complex on Thursday, June 25.

The $1.5 million enhancement includes upgrades to electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, data and security.

A police van dock has also been added to the exterior of the station, which has an interior connection to the charge room.

Senior Constable for Laurieton Police Mick Walker said the addition of the charge room means police officers no longer have to travel to Port Macquarie to carry out the process of charging a person with a crime, saving them valuable time.

The upgrades to the technology within the police station mean officers can effectively carry out their work onsite, while also ensuring their safety within the building.

The facility also has the ability to accommodate additional officers if required.

Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said it's important for local police to have access to world-class facilities and the upgrade delivers this.

"In recent years we've seen significant upgrades to communication and the way police do their job," she said.

"We want to make sure our local police in the Camden Haven have the support they need when it comes to world-class facilities," she said.

Mr Elliott said police who work hard to serve the region deserve the best quality infrastructure available.

"That's a great endorsement and cause for encouragement for the officers who work here," he said.

Recently Lake Cathie residents have raised the need for a satellite emergency centre to be based in the village, due to the growing population and concerns of crime in the area.

Mrs Williams said population growth will continue to be monitored and the Camden Haven would be one of the areas looked at, particularly as there is significant growth in the Lake Cathie/Bonny Hills region.

Mr Elliott said the upgrade demonstrates the government takes the safety and security of the Camden Haven community very seriously.

"We're prepared to invest money into communities like Laurieton," he said.

Funding for the upgrade to the Laurieton Police Station was announced in July 2018.

The news came after funding was announced in May, 2018 for a new Port Macquarie Police Station.
