The work began in 2019 and is expected to impact some clubs as the winter sports season approaches.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said the works have been funded by the NSW government through the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
"Almost $208,000 was allocated to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to undertake the works," Mrs Williams said.
The sports fields are used heavily by local residents for training and competition right throughout the year.
The delivery of these improvements will improve field standards to a level consistent with other sporting fields in the area, contributing to increased participation in sport in the Camden Haven area.
The installation of the automatic irrigation system will also ensure the playing surface is maintained to a high standard.
Lake Cathie Football Club said they are preparing for the 2020 season with this year's home games being moved to Wayne Richards Park in Port Macquarie as the extensive upgrades take time.
Club president Troy Pemberton said it would be business as usual for the club while the upgrades take place.
"It will be business as usual for Lake Cathie Football Club. We will still be the football club that represents Lake Cathie and the surrounding area," Mr Pemberton said.
Mr Pemberton conceded that the quality of the fields had not been up to standard for the last couple of seasons but was optimistic for the future and what it will mean for Lake Cathie.
"We are excited to see the work being undertaken at the fields as it will provide the club's players with a playing surface that will be conducive to our teams playing a high quality of football for years to come," he said.
