Drewitt's New South Wales girls team brought home a bronze medal following a 4-1 win over Western Australia in the final.
"Maddie's team had a mixed bag of results in the preliminary rounds and ended up playing off for bronze," Smith said.
"She had an outstanding tournament in terms of the way she played and the contribution to the team."
Smith managed the NSW under-15 boys to a 5-0 gold medal victory over Victoria.
"Our expectation was to be in the grand final but you never take those things for granted because it's a whole different day when you play a GF," he said.
Son Bayden's team fell just short and finished fourth following a 4-0 defeat to Queensland Maroon in the bronze medal match.
That came after a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Victoria in the quarter-final.
"Both Maddie and Bayden have worked pretty hard for quite a while now and played exceptionally well," Smith said.
"Bayden's team played off in the quarter-final and were unlucky not to meet us in the final.
"They got knocked out in a penalty shoot out and if they'd won they'd have gone on to play us."
Attention now turns to the local outdoor hockey season which is set to start in April.
"Pre-season training for us starts this week as a club, but our higher athletes have been at the Accelerated Athlete Program for NSW Hockey and training already," Smith said.
"Bayden, Evie Wignell and Zara Ferguson went to 15s trials prior to Christmas and they've got the second lot of under-15 trials in two weeks in Illawarra so it doesn't stop."
