Participants Glen Newbould, Keith Lawlor and Aaron Fox are all ready to start up their surfing again at Flynns Beach after 8.30am on Saturday, October 19.
"It will be good to start meeting new people and seeing all our friends again," said Mr Newbould.
"Surfing is a lot of fun and it's a bit like riding a bicycle, you've got to be confident in how to do it.
"(To be a good surfer) you should crouch down in a comfortable stance as you go to stand up. Not falling off is always a good start."
Events will be held on November 16 and December 14 followed by a break for Christmas. Surfers will return to the ocean on February 15, March 14 and April 4.
Each day includes a quick pre-surf debriefing and an after-surf sausage sandwich barbecue.
"I'm just looking forward to getting back in the water because it's hot at the moment," laughed Keith Lawlor.
"(My best advice is) just try not to fall off."
The change, which includes holding barbecues on the sand, has been prompted by significant construction works at Flynns Beach.
"Surfers have been on break since April and it's been pretty busy organising everything," said association president David Hancock.
"It will be an all sand event for the first three sessions in 2020 because it's harder to get up onto the grass.
"Barbecue, tents and everything will be on the beach which will be a first for Port Macquarie.
"We're hoping for about 30 participants and 60 volunteers, our regular committee group is about 15 people.
"All sessions will be held at Flynns Beach because this beach works well on a low to incoming tide."
The Disabled Surfers Association is a voluntary organisation which extends to all classes of disabilities. It was originally started in 1986 by Gary Blaschke after he lost his knee cap in a motorcycle accident.
