Hastings Disabled Surfers Association are proving that there's nothing better than a Saturday morning in the waves as they took to the beach on February 9, hosting an early surfing clinic.
Carer and first time disabled surfer volunteer, Randall Cook said it is a day full of smiles for everybody, with members making friends and surfing waves.
"Just the activity is great, being involved in the community with friends and having a good time," he said.
"Things we can take for granted."
Mr Cook, who also surfs as a hobby said it was important for members to experience the freedom of surfing.
"Surfing, I just love it... it's freedom," he said.
"Being out and active in the community is a huge benefit... and surfers use a lot of different muscle groups for the activity."
Surfers will next visit Flynns Beach on Saturday, March 9 and April 6 this year for another round of saltwater fun.
