About 7.50pm on Sunday, September 29, officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District attended a home on Coulston Street, Taree West to speak with a 42-year-old man in relation to an apprehended violence order (AVO).
Upon arrival, the man allegedly threatened officers with an axe before retreating inside the home.
At this time, negotiators and Tactical Operations Regional Support officers were deployed to the scene.
