Ian Last, 48, is charged with, two counts of wound a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, destroy or damage property and breaching an apprehended violence order and bail.
Last appeared before Magistrate Price.
The charges relate to incidents that allegedly occurred at a Port Macquarie home in February, 2019.
Magistrate Price told Last that his case would be adjourned so his lawyer and the police prosecution could hold a case conference.
"At this time, there will be a discussion about any plea offers or to discuss if you will plead guilty or not guilty to the charges," she said.
"These matters will then return to court where you will be asked to enter your plea of guilty or not guilty.
"I am advising you that there are discounts available to you if you plead guilty or you may decide to defend these charges.
"If you plead guilty the matter will go to the district court for sentencing. If you plead not guilty the matter will go to that court for trial."
The Port Macquarie man is alleged to have breached an AVO and bail conditions before stabbing two people in a dispute on February 6, 2019.
Mr Last was arrested after he allegedly threatened a man and a woman, aged 80 and 82 years. He was granted conditional bail, and issued an interim domestic violence order.
It is alleged he returned to the home where he again threatened the couple with a knife before stabbing them.
He has not entered a plea.
Last will next appear in the Port Macquarie Local Court on November 21.
