United were keen to avenge a 2-1 defeat to the Redbacks in their last meeting and the match was heated from the kickoff.
Both teams producing sweeping runs of skillful teamwork at Dixie Park in Port Macquarie on Saturday, August 24.
United attempted to cement an early victory with three long-range goals booted in by forward Rory Ballard, including a floating kick into goal from near the corner.
Camden Haven fought back in the second half and capitalised on their scoring opportunities to bang in two goals close to the final whistle.
Port United coach Colin Lowe said nerves were frayed as the game went down to the wire.
"It was a little bit tight towards the end, a little bit scary for a few minutes," he said.
"I think we just panicked a bit and lost our positioning.
"Rory is very talented and when she's on, she puts them away from anywhere but we've got good forwards who can all score.
"Overall I thought we aimed to play the ball around on the deck and we managed to do that in the end."
Port Macquarie will next face off against the Macleay Valley Rangers in the Grand Final on August 31.
The Rangers have previously defeated them 2-1 during the first round of finals on August 17.
"We're playing Rangers next week and we know they are going to be very competitive," said Mr Lowe.
"We just have to make sure we get back behind the ball when we lose it and start backing each other up.
"We've got to take our chances in front of goal because when we faced them last time we had about four very good chances that we didn't put it away."
