After the success of last year's tryouts, Hockey NSW pathway manager Richard Willis said they had no reason not to continue to return for the foreseeable future.
"We know what Port Macquarie do, they have great facilities, lots of accommodation and there is quite an ease of access for all of our athletes who live in NSW," he said.
"I would think because of the success of last year I can't see why this weekend will not be."
Willis said Hockey NSW noted the growth and improvement across Port Macquarie's coaching ranks which was backed up by a strong committee.
Around 100 athletes from all over the state will take to the two fields on Saturday and Sunday for two four-hour training sessions.
Players will also be subjected to speed endurance testing, core skill testing and game situations.
"We've got 90 athletes from all over New South Wales coming so to be able to put the boys on one pitch and the girls on the other works really well for us," Willis said.
"We pick the best 32 and break them into two even teams for the nationals in Hobart in the October school holidays."
As part of Hockey NSW's trip to the Hastings, Port Macquarie's under-15 and under-18 high performance athletes will also be put through their paces on Friday.
"It's an opportunity for us to upskill our coaches in the latest practices and see what we need to develop," Willis said.
Port Macquarie duo Lilianah Williams and Emersyn Smith hope to be in the top 32 players selected at the end of the weekend.
