As part of a $45,000 cash injection spent at the racing track in Wauchope and Kempsey, air-conditioners and an insulated kennel roof will ensure racing can happen all year round.

Before the upgrades local races would be called off if the temperature inside the kennels reached above 26 degrees and president of the club Rex Nairn is grateful for the state government's investment.

"We have had to call off a number of races recently due to the temperature inside the kennels being too hot," Mr Nairn said.

"We had be renting portable air-conditioners but it was not enough particularly in summer.

"With the insulation and air-conditioning we are looking forward to being able to hold all the races on the calendar."

Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, said the newly upgraded kennels would improve comfort for racing dogs, particularly during the summer months.

"The NSW Government has funded this upgrade as part of our commitment to high standards of animal welfare in the greyhound racing industry," Mrs Pavey said.

"After the past few years of uncertainty this money gives certainty to breeders, trainers and fans that racing is here to stay.

"The facilities in Wauchope are incredible and this money will ensure racing stays for the whole community to love and enjoy."

Minister for better regulation and innovation, Kevin Anderson MP, said the funding is part of the NSW Government's $30 million, five-year program to upgrade greyhound racetracks and infrastructure across the state.

"The program is a key part of the NSW Government's reforms to ensure an ethical and sustainable greyhound racing industry based on the highest standards of animal welfare."
