The Breakers dusted off the pre-season cobwebs in the trip north for a nines tournament where the club fielded two sides.
They both emerged with two wins and a loss each along with a few bumps and bruises, but nothing major.
Lismore Marist Brothers won the competition with Dan Kemp's side inflicting a defeat on them in the preliminary games, while Ben Hyde's side were no match.
"Each team won a couple of games, and lost a game," Kemp said.
"All the boys had a run around, but having no injuries was the most important part.
"Woolgoolga beat us, but it was two tries each; they just scored a bonus point try and we didn't so they won."
Matt Burge, Tom Kelly, Trae Clarke and Dane Perry were all impressive and staked a claim for a spot in the side for the Breakers season opener on April 6.
"Most blokes were a bit rusty and they won't mind me saying that, but in nines you only get one or two touches and don't get a chance to rectify things," Kemp said.
"A few of them were a bit sore and sorry afterwards, but that happens in your first hit-out."
Meanwhile, the Breakers will play a pre-season fixture against Wauchope at Lank Bain Sporting Complex on March 9.
