In town for just a few days, the group of 9 visited the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, Rotary Lodge, Mrs York’s Garden, St Columba Anglican School, CSU and other major attractions in Port Macquarie.
Renu Singh said taking part in the exchange meant she was able to meet people on the other side of the world.
“We have all really loved every place we have been able to visit during our trip to Australia,” Mrs Singh said.
“It has been a great opportunity to see first hand other cultures and ways of living and it has been wonderful that everyone was been so welcoming.
“People in Australia are so nice and lovely and we have had a great time seeing all the sights and looking at as much as possible in the short time we have.”
The group, coming from a number of Rotary Clubs in central India between Delhi and Mumbai also visited Dorrigo, Tamworth and Coffs Harbour, before arriving in Port Macquarie on Tuesday, October 30.
“The exchange teaches us affection for other places, respect for other cultures and gives us a social responsibility to help others.”
Lou Hayward from the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West said the visiting Rotarians have been given an all access pass to Port Macquarie.
“They are only in town for a small amount of time so we have jammed as many things into their itinerary as possible,” Mr Hayward said.
“Part of the exchange is to show some of our local Rotary projects but mostly it is about us and them making friends and connections in a new country.
“And the great thing about this is we are sending some of our Rotarians for a visit to see their projects and clubs in India in February 2019.”
