The Cricket NSW Mid North Coast development manager said drizzling rain kept the numbers to a minimum for the first weekend of the six-week long event.
“The weather wasn’t good, but the plan is to go ahead again next Sunday,” he said.
“All the girls that did turn up had a good time and told us they have a couple of friends they’ll bring along next time.
“Whenever you start something new it’s always difficult, but it’s about a bit of fun for the girls.”
Garoni was confident they had made some progress before the second day that will be held this weekend.
“We are looking at starting an under-15 girls competition on the Mid North Coast soon that will be seven-a-side,” he said.
“Hopefully we can get some of the girls from the Macleay and Manning involved as well.”
Sign up for the second day of the social women’s competition starts at 3.30pm at the cricket pitches at Wood Street on Sunday.
