The play is based on the Richard Grimmond book I Went With John Oxley.
With three performances - one the fundraising premiere at Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard on Sunday October 14 - the play is part of the bicentenary of Oxley's arrival in the region.
"I thought the bicentenary was a wonderful opportunity to organise a play about John Oxley," Mrs Morrison said.
"I chose four of the convicts and the main four explorers to play the roles.
"There are so many parts to Oxley and his journey and it was quite hard to write the play. It is more a narration of the journey and bringing the story to life that way."
Mrs Morrison has written extensively and at one time performed as Elizabeth Macarthur at the original Macarthur family farm, near Camden.
She has written a play about the Rum Rebellion and was responsible for the regrouping of the Stuarts Point Players where she also wrote several plays about that region.
After moving to Port Macquarie and joining the homestead as a volunteer, Mrs Morrison penned another play about Douglas Vale and his family.
"I also taught gifted students at university and have written a number of poems too," she added.
The fundraising premiere is on Douglas Vale on Sunday October 14.
Tickets are available at the Glasshouse for $30 per person. The premiere is limited to just 60 tickets.
Light refreshments, tastings of a special Heritage Port and the sale of a John Oxley 200th Anniversary Explorers Red Wine are part of the premiere.
Other performances will be on October 20 at noon during the Douglas Vale open day while a final performance is scheduled for October 30, 6pm at the Wauchope Country Club.
