JACKSON Jubelin will hope to follow in the footsteps of well-known international golfers after accepting a four-year golfing scholarship in the United States.
The scholarship will allow Jubelin to improve his game further with a goal of making it onto the professional circuit.
Not only that, but the Port Macquarie golfer knows heading to the US will get him closer to meeting the likes of Tiger Woods and Adam Scott as well.
Woods was his idol growing up as a teenager.
“Hopefully I can bump into him on the streets or something because I dream to play with him one day,” Jubelin said.
“He travels over the world and plays tournaments so if I play well enough I can get exemptions into tournaments he is playing in.”
More at home on the putting green than teeing off or hitting out of the rough, it is hoped the scholarship will make Jubelin a more rounded golfer.
"I’ll have three coaches that will be with me all the time and help in every aspect of my game, not just the swing and the putting, but mentally and physically as well,” he said.
Jubelin knows the progression on to the professional circuit is more achievable from the United States than it is from Port Macquarie.
“There are so many mini pro-golf tours that lead up to that major stage when you’re over there, so getting on one of those tours would be great,” he said.
“It opens up a few more doors that may have been closed here in Port.”

“Some big names play in those as well so that’s also a good stage to be at and it’s a greater pathway to get to where I want to be going over there than staying here.

The 18-year-old is in good form on the course and wants to continue his recent purple patch.
“The start of this year wasn’t very good tournament-wise for me, but over the past couple of months my game has finally clicked after the hard work I’ve put in and I’m starting to see results,” he said.
“I was having second thoughts of why I would go over there because I didn’t enjoy the game at the start of the year.
“But I put in the hard work and it’s finally starting to show which is exciting because it’s only two months til I leave.”

Jubelin was up around the lead in various tournaments a couple of years ago and now it has all come together.
“Adam Scott was my age when he was picked up by Nevada University in Las Vegas,” he said.
“He’s done a similar thing to what I’ve done and he’s gone on to great things so hopefully that can happen to me.”
