Batt heads to the Paralympians’ welcome-home parade today as another winner, this time as a member of the team of the year.
That award goes to the wheelchair rugby team, the Steelers.
It doesn’t end there for Batt, as he also has been named as a State Finalist Young Australian of the Year for 2013.
The welcome-home parade gets under way in Sydney at 11am.
Batt was also a finalist for the athlete of the year award, but that went to swimmer Jacqueline Freney who picked up a memorable bag of gold medals.
The Steelers dominance in the wheelchair rugby competition was jointly rewarded alongside sailing's two-person SKUD 18 crew for the Team of the Year award
Batt, the biggest cog in Australia’s gold medal-winning wheelchair rugby team, is one of six finalists announced by the Australian Paralympic Committee for the 2012 Paralympian of the Year Award.
Batt’s dominant form and uncompromising playing style led the Steelers to their first Paralympic gold medal.
He finished the Games with 160 goals and was the leading goal scorer of the tournament, an impressive 31 points in front of the nearest contender.
The award ceremony was held at the prestigious night at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Thursday night.
