Perth photographer Jason Moore's snap of the western grey roo strumming in a field of yellow flowers scored him the overall win in The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards for 2023.
After a "disappointing morning" getting up at sunrise to capture some waterfowl at a lake, Mr Moore stopped at some open bushland on his way home.
"When I arrived, there were a number of kangaroos in the field," he said.
"The morning light was still favourable so I grabbed my camera and headed off to a spot where I could get down to eye level with my subjects, amongst the biting ticks - the lengths we go to, just to get that perfect image.
"I ended up shooting about 40 or 50 frames of the kangaroos with various content including mum's, Joey's and also some action shots of them bouncing along through the yellow field."
Other top shots included a charming otter's ballerina pose, a Great Gray Owl's perfect portrayal of a Monday slump, and a young fox reclining with a cigar.
The awards have drawn thousands of photos from around the world each year from professionals to novices alike since 2015.
As well as promoting an enjoyment of nature, the awards aim to raise the profile of wildlife conservation without the distressing images often relied on to pull on people's heartstrings.
