The angler was swept off rocks at Snapper Point on Saturday morning, with crews searching until nightfall for him.
The search operation was planned to resume on Sunday morning before a man's body was found on a rock ledge off nearby Frazer Beach about 7am.
An autopsy will be performed this week.
