Ken Little's Fruit & Veg owner Kenny Little said the shop has been incredibly busy in the lead up to the Christmas period, with people keen to purchase festive fruits.

"Demand has been very strong" he said.

While cherries have been sourced easily, mangoes have been harder to come by.

"This week has probably been the hardest I've seen in probably a couple of years, due to a gap in supply," Mr Little said.

There have been storms in Queensland, which has impacted fruit production in places such as Bundaberg.

"That's where a lot of mangoes were coming from," Mr Little said.

"They are in shorter supply this year."

Majority of cherries are being sourced from Victoria, with some from Young and Orange.

"The quality of the extra large cherries is exceptional," Mr Little said.

Mr Little said there's plenty for everyone, while crediting his customers for being patient and understanding.

Port Fresh Seafoods owner Veronica Trotter said there's been a steady stream of people through their doors.

"We have extra stock in store, and additional stock is arriving each day," she said.

Mrs Trotter said it's difficult to source seafood during the Christmas period.

"You're never guaranteed that you'll be able to get what you ask for," she said.

"We've managed to source quite a lot of product, which will hopefully see everyone enjoy a lovely seafood Christmas."

Mrs Trotter explained prawns are prominently a winter harvest, even though people like to consume them in summer.

"Our produce is as local as it can possibly be," she said.

Wauchope Seafoods' Karen Millward said this year has been busier in the lead up to Christmas, with strong demand for prawns and oysters.

The shop is stocking a couple of tonnes of prawns to ensure they'll be plenty for all seafood lovers.

Mrs Millward said there haven't been many prawns which have been caught locally, so majority have come from Queensland.

"They can come from anywhere from Coffs Harbour up to the Sunshine Coast," she said.
