Originally set down for late September, bodyboarders will get the opportunity to hit the water at Lighthouse Beach following the relaxation of public health measures.
Event coordinator Clayton Pickworth said the 19th running of the competition will see surfers from Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales vie for the title.
"Everyone's chomping at the bit to get it done because we planned to have it done in September, but we've got everything ready to go and we've just got to flick the switch," he said.
"We've got people from Vic and Queensland so it has opened the doors a bit more and that's why we held off for as long as we could so everyone could have the chance to come.
"At one stage it was looking like we wouldn't have even got surfers from the South Coast, Greater Sydney or Newcastle so we were down to about 10 people."
The Dropknee Sessions will return next winter with the bodyboarding season set to start again in February.
"We've got 32 riders so it's sold out which is really good and we're looking forward to it," Pickworth said.
