Cassegrain Wines was one of 84 gold medal winners to qualify for one of 18 trophy category awards presented by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC on December 10.
This win comes on top of Alex Cassegrain being named 2021 Australian Society of Viticulture (ASVO) Winemaker of The Year in November 2021.
John Cassegrain, chief winemaker at Cassegrain Wines said Australian Rosé as a wine style has now come of age, no longer dominated by the sweeter wines.
"The demand for more serious, dry and savoury styles has been on the increase in Australia, representing one of the largest growth wine categories. These wines are ideal to enjoy in the summer, and are so well suited to the Australian lifestyle," he said.
Alex Cassegrain, senior winemaker at Cassegrain Wines said it's rewarding to receive recognition from industry peers and experts in wine sensory evaluation.
"Every year we work with the Hilltops vineyard owner, Peter Creyke, carefully selecting the right parcels from the vineyard and optimise harvest time for the Rosé. Our Rosé has evolved over the years and we are really pleased with the results we are getting with this wine," he said.
Cassegrain Wines' 2021 Seasons Spring Rosé is made from 100 per cent Sangiovese grapes sourced from Hilltops in New South Wales.
NSW Wine is an independent association established in 1994 to act as a conduit between the wine industry and the state government, and represents NSW at the federal level through the Winemakers Federation of Australia.
