Family friend Joshua Fairhall has stepped up to help, but hopes that through a GoFundMe campaign others in the community might be able to send a little Christmas Cheer as well.
"My friend is a single mum with three beautiful children; one is special needs, they have had a real tough time over the last few years and to top it all off their house has burnt down," Joshua said.
"I'd really like to try and help her get back on her feet with a new rental, and I'd like to try and also give her kids a nice Christmas.
"I'm hoping to rally the community together and to help them back up on their feet.
"I know times are tough for most of us, but if anyone can spare a few dollars to help it would be very much appreciated."
Joshua has set up a GoFundMe page here and set a goal of $20,000.
Alternatively, you can find the page by searching "Help Paula after her home burnt down" on the GoFundMe website.
Joshua has also used his position as Director of Bi-Rite Home Appliances Kempsey to get some essential items to the struggling family.
Late November the campaign started to gain steam as people in the community and even businesses from Port Macquarie started offering their support.
"My company will be donating new mattresses and white goods," Joshua said.
"Bells Furniture One and Make a Difference in Port Macquarie are donating a $1500 furniture pack and Sports Power Port Macquarie are donating some Christmas gifts as well.
"People in the community have also offered emergency clothing, household items and monetary donations, so we are well on our way to making a big difference.
