You've heard of the pink salt lakes, but now Melbourne has it's own pink pond.
Visitors to the CBD will be able to cool down by dipping their toes in an art installation at the Grollo Equiset Garden at NGV International.
The pond[er] installation that includes the pink pond, a nod to Australia's inland salt lakes, has been revealed as the winner of the NGV's 2021 Architecture Commission.
Designed by a Melbourne-based team, it becomes part of the NGV garden and allows visitors to move through it in a series of walkways, even allowing people to wade through the pink waters.
Each year, the annual commission is selected via a two-stage national competition, in which architects or multidisciplinary teams are invited to submit a design for an engaging temporary structure or installation to activate the Grollo Equiset Garden.
It will be on display from December 6, 2021, to October 28, 2022.
