The idea for the song Hometown came to Chris when he would travel back and forward from Sydney to Port Macquarie earlier in his career.
Chris moved to Sydney after signing a record deal with Sony in 2012 before heading off to gigs around the country.
"I've always been involved in music and variety concerts when I was at school. It was a natural progression to move into the industry," he said.
"There was a lot of travelling back and forward during that time when I lived in Sydney and I was on the road back home a lot.
"There were plenty of times where I would really miss my family and friends."
Chris moved back to Port Macquarie five years ago when he decided to pursue his music career from home.
The style of Chris' music has also changed to more of a country feel after dabbling in pop.
"I've really gone back to my roots with my music now. It's more of what I know and what I want to produce," he said.
Chris said he's also enjoying focusing on one song at a time.
"I'm always writing music, but I've found there is more of a market for singles at the moment. I also like putting all of my energy into one song at a time and focusing on the film clip and everything else that goes with it," he said.
"I have four other singles that I'm working on at the moment."
Due to Covid restrictions, the majority of Chris' work has been produced remotely.
"My producer in Brisbane has sent out packs that are pretty much mini studios so that we can record from home. It was challenging to begin with, but it's a lot easier now."
The film clip for Hometown was filmed by fellow musician and videographer Jake Davey.
It was filmed predominantly in Port Macquarie as well as Comboyne.
"The idea behind the film clip was to show off our area and use a lot of drone shots of the beaches," Chris said.
"I also gathered all of my friends for the bonfire shots for the film clip which was really nice to have them involved."
Chris will be launching the single during a gig at Hello Sailor on Friday (November 3) night at 5.30pm.
"I'm excited to launch the song here and play it for locals," Chris said.
Hometown is available to stream and download on all platforms.
