Hastings Valley Netball Association publicity officer Linda Dewbery said last weekend's coaching clinic with former NSW Swifts captain Abbey McCulloch and current Swifts' training partner Laura Towell was amazing.
But it wasn't just the 85 keen young netballers who took took a number of positives out of the two-day event with their coaches also picking the mind of the former Swifts.
"When they started drills, either Abbey or Laura came over to the coaches and asked them questions about how they do things which was really good," Dewbery said.
The most important part about spending time back on court was the ability to do just that after a COVID-enforced break for most players.
"It was just getting back to play netball because our season was cut short in August so we couldn't schedule semis or finals," Dewbery said.
"Our littlest girls the nine-year-old's had a great time because they're going into proper netball next year so they got tips from Abbey which they were excited about.
"Our under-10s and 11s have rep trials this weekend so they were able to get training from Abbey and Laura which was good because it's their first time trialling.
"Our 12s and overs got to meet Abbey which they were really excited about."
Dewbery said she wasn't surprised to have received a reply to her message, but thought Port Macquarie may have been too far.
"I was surprised with what Abbey offered us because it's her business," she said.
"I thought Port Macquarie may have been too far, but when she messaged back and said this was what she could offer, not only did she come to Port but we got two days of training.
"It was amazing."
