The project is called Dare to Dream and is thanks to staff members Amanda Wilmen and Sharmain Peterson, who created it during the coronavirus pandemic.

Each photo aims to tell a story about the resident's spirit through the use of props such as memorabilia, surfboards, music instruments, vehicles and sport items.

The edited photos were emailed to family members as a way of connecting with them during lockdown periods.

Glyn Watkins is a veteran who spent his career in the armed services and worked his way through the ranks to become Lieutenant Colonel.

He had many tours overseas and was also responsible for the training of Afghan soldiers.

Mr Watkins had extra stripes on his uniforms to represent the high level of achievement he reached.

Mr Watkins saluted after being wrapped in the Australian flag for his photo.

Euan Campbell's favourite team is the Cronulla Sharks.

Mr Campbell played for Cronulla in Group 3 rugby league before injury forced him to stop.

However Mr Campbell still loves to watch every game his team plays and proudly wears a Cronulla jersey.

He had a front row seat for the Origin series where he watched the game with a group of residents, complete with happy hour and nibbles.

Lance Devine said he wouldn't have his photo taken unless it was on the back of Harley, so the staff were determined to make it happen.

Mr Devine's son, Anthony, was thrilled to see the pleasure his Dad gained from the photo opportunity.

"He couldn't stop talking about the ride when we rang him," he said.

"It's the most talkative that he's been in weeks.

"Lockdown has been so hard on him, but it's just so gratifying to know that the carers at Emmaus are doing what they can to keep the residents' spirits up during these trying times."

Kathleen Chapman was a fashion model in the UK and loves to dance.

Kathleen and her husband Alan attended many events together.

Kathleen loves losing herself in the moment when dancing.

She said this makes her forget her age and helps her to relive memories of her life she treasures most.

Peter Crozier said he wanted to look like Salvador Dali in his photograph.

Dali was a Spanish- born artist who was famous in the 1920s for his exceptional artwork and bizarre behaviour.

Peter studied teaching, art and textiles at university and loved the artist's work.

Peter's sense of fun was captured perfectly by the Emmaus Dare to Dream photographic team, thanks to the aids of a Salvador Dali-like moustache and a copy of his favourite Dali painting.

Joan Morgan was photographed wearing a sarong next to a surfboard, due to her love for the waves.

She was a surfer and member of the Maroubra Surf Lifesaving Club.

Her dad was the president of the club and Joan often recalls her most favourite memories from that time.

Joan was all smiles for the camera and laughed at how long the surfboard was.

Arthur Ryan's favourite memory is the day he and his wife were married.

He said he still loves to remember the time when they were both young and beautiful.

Mr Ryan's wedding photo is his most treasured possession.
