Stay-at-home orders for the Port Macquarie LGA were introduced from 6pm on September 28 for seven days due to an increased COVID-19 public health risk.
These stay-at-home orders will also apply to anyone who has been in the Port Macquarie LGA since September 17.
Everyone in the Port Macquarie LGA must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason, which includes:
- shopping for food
- medical care
- getting vaccinated
- compassionate needs
- exercise
- work or tertiary education if you can't work or study at home.
Inspector Martin Burke said police will be out over the weekend ensuring the public are adhering to lockdown restrictions.
"Officers will be out and about making sure the community is complying with the restrictions over the NRL Grand Final long weekend," he said.
"This will be to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and ensure people are following the Public Health Order."
There will be additional officers on shift this weekend, as well as Highway Patrol officers in the region.
"The fines for breaching the Public Health Order are still in force and are significant," Insp Burke said.
"Making sure you follow the health guidelines will help reduce any lockdown from continuing.
"We're urging the community to follow restrictions and help keep everyone safe."
