The Byron Shire, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Ballina Shire local government areas will go into lockdown from 6pm August 9 until August 17, 12:01am, following a COVID-19 positive case being detected in the region.
The same restrictions as apply in Greater Sydney will be in place, including only leaving home for an essential reason, such as grocery shopping, to be vaccinated or other medical appointments or to provide care to somebody in need.
People cannot enter the Byron Shire, Richmond Valley, Lismore, and Ballina Shire LGAs, without a reasonable excuse to do so.
The stay-at-home orders will apply to all people who live in these areas or have been there on or after July 31.
Visitors to homes are not permitted, unless for care or compassionate reasons.
The region now joins Armidale, Tamworth and Newcastle in lockdowns to help prevent the further spread of COVID in regional communities.

Earlier, premier Glady Berejiklian had called for people on the NSW Northern Rivers with any symptoms to get tested after a man in his 50s was confirmed to have COVID-19.
The man stayed in the Byron area after travelling from Sydney towards the end of July.
Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said the man was moving in the community for some days. He was being re-interviewed but the man had no recorded QR code check-ins during his infectious period.
