Well after many a failed attempt, the NSW man finally got his wish last month when the world-wide brand "caved" to the masses and decided a return was in order.

But there was just one problem.

"You can't find them anywhere," Mr Cotter said.

Tasty Toobs began to arrive on the shelves of 7-Eleven's around the country from July 27 and at supermarkets, independent retailers, petrol stations and convenience stores nationally from August 2.

"When Blockbuster was open was the last time Toobs were out, so you get a movie, get some Toobs and kick back," Mr Cotter added.

"It was the only time I really had them and they were really good. Then they they just took them away, and they were a pretty bloody good chip.

"He was ecstatic when he heard the news they would return, but that quickly turned to disappointment when he failed to see them stocked anywhere in Orange.

"I'm not 100 per cent serious about going and getting them until the hype is all over and people stop buying boxes to put on eBay like toilet paper," he added.

"I might go for a bit of a hunt later this week when I get a break from work.

"Apparently they taste a little bit different but I'd rock 'em. I can't wait to see them in the vending machine at work."

Vandita Pandey, CMO PepsiCo ANZ which runs Smiths said of the return that it had been a "labour of love and we're just as excited as our fans that they are finally back."

And after some success under his belt, Mr Cotter isn't stopping at Toobs.

"I've now got a page on Facebook set up to try and bring back the Maggi's Curry Noodles," he said.

"It's got a few followers but I'm not gathering any steam with Maggi at the moment."
