The Vikings fought a tough 29-19 victory over the Snappers at Oxley Oval on Saturday, July 31.
Vikings' Adam McCormack said every game is important as the teams make their run towards the finish.
"It was a tough and important game for us. We need tough games now going into the finals," McCormack said.
"We will be working on defence because Snappers put three tries on us today and last week we had almost 40 points scored against us.
"We know we have to be better than that in finals. We need to play finals defence now."
McCormack said the team would be looking closely at their game against Southern Cross University Marlins.
"They are a bit of an unknown because we have only played the Marlins once this year after another game was washed out," he said.
"It's a reminder that it's still a very close competition."
