About 4.35pm on Wednesday, two men - aged 50 and 64 - were seated inside a pub on High Street, Wauchope, when a verbal altercation broke out.
It's then alleged the older man grabbed a glass and smashed it on the younger man's face and neck.
Staff contacted police who attended a short time later.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and arrested the older man.
He was also taken to hospital for treatment to a hand injury before being conveyed to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday, August 11.
