Floodwater came up to the floorboards, the deck was smashed and gas bottles and wheelie bins were lost.

The renovations were completed and then the latest COVID-19 restrictions came into effect just days before Banks Cafe opened its doors.

Now the regional restrictions are set to remain in place until 11.59pm on Friday, July 16.

Banks Cafe co-owner Andrew Bourke said the business probably lost about 40 per cent of its seating capacity before the cafe opened to meet the COVID-related requirements.

But the public has supported the cafe with strong bookings.

Mr Bourke said it was a matter of getting on with business during the current COVID-19 restrictions.

"We are all in this and we just have to get on with our lives and adapt," he said.

The state government extended the lockdown in Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Blue Mountains and the Central Coast by a week to July 16, along with the COVID-related restrictions in all other parts of the state.

The decision is due to the ongoing cases of COVID-19 community transmission and following updated health advice.

Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association president Janette Hyde stressed the importance of supporting local businesses at this time.

"They need our support more than ever," she said.

"Businesses are still operating but they are operating with limitations. We have to be supportive, and together, we will get through this."

Mrs Hyde also encouraged people to make the most of the extended validity of the Dine and Discover vouchers as another way to support businesses.

The vouchers are valid to August 31.

Business NSW regional manager Kellon Beard said the situation was impacting businesses, particularly those requiring services from Sydney.

"Obviously tourism-related businesses have been impacted by the lack of tourism and people generally moving about," he said.

Businesses which travelled as part of their work were looking to work remotely, Mr Beard said.
