Fire and Rescue crews extinguish a heat lamp fire in Port Macquarie

Crews responded to a Triple Zero call after a heat lamp caught fire in a bathroom on Greenmeadows Drive at 8.40am on Tuesday.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze on scene and used a thermal imaging camera to check if the fire had spread further.

Damage was contained to the heat lamp due to the speedy response from the resident.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

"The Triple Zero service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life threatening or time critical situations," the spokesperson said.
