Their under-12 boys are a largely inexperienced team, but a 52-43 win over Bellingen was the highlight of their tournament.
The team will play three more games in the July round but with only four teams in the competition everyone will go through to finals.
The under-14 boys registered three wins from three games and with 10 teams in the competition it will be split into division one and two for the fourth and final round in mid-July.
Port Macquarie are third on the ladder and will play four games against the other top teams with the top four teams progressing into division one finals.
Coach Mark Champion will no doubt be confident of achieving that goal.
In the under-14 girls competition, they had wins against Taree and Yamba to sit third on the ladder with a round to play.
The girls play top of the table Lismore ahead of another tight game against Coffs Harbour who only beat them by two points when they last played in May.
Association secretary Lyndal Harper said the younger representative teams have surprised everyone with their results this year.
"Following the cancellation of representative basketball last year due to COVID, there were a lot of unknowns about how this season would pan out," she said.
"But as an association we are really excited by the huge improvements these three teams have shown and their commitment to training and learning is a great sign for our future representative programs."
