She will be joined in the squad by Mid North Coast trio Claire Downie, Leteesha Amato and Jorja Holborow for the trip to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra in October.

Franklin is excited to be selected in the squad.

"It means that all the travel and hard work is finally being recognised and I'm also pretty excited to play at the AIS," she said.

Amato is really passionate about football and said it was an achievement to be a part of the experience.

"It is a privilege to have this opportunity to represent my local community and team," she said.

Downie and Holborow said all their hard work had paid off.

Football Mid North Coast technical director Larry Budgen said selection meant the players were considered as being in the best 17 players in the state.

"Players are then monitored by W-League clubs and training programs are adjusted with junior Matildas coaches keeping updates on players' progress," he said.

Mid Coast FC Women's Premier League head coach Mick Grass said the girls' selection could potentially open the door to further training camps or representing Australia on the international stage.

"Representing at the national championships gives players an opportunity to showcase their skills on a national stage while benchmarking themselves against the best players in the country in their age group," he said.

"As with all of our players, Jorja has developed through several seasons of involvement with FMNC development and WPL squads.

"Playing up age groups has challenged her physically while improving her technical ability."

Under-17s coach Brenton Doyle said it was an exciting time for the girls to be able to test themselves at a high level.

"It will be a great experience for them to learn to deal with pressure and to be seen by top coaches at national level," he said.

"From experiences like these, the girls can make decisions about if they really want to go further as a player at a higher level and it will help them grow more confident with their self-belief playing against the best in the country at their age level."
