Australia's Biggest Morning Tea raises funds towards vital cancer research, support services, prevention programs and advocacy each year.
PMDG spokesperson and founder Jean Ballands said the event was held for the group to socialise while raising funds for a good cause.
"We love what our dogs give us, they heal us. This is our chance to help heal others and help continue the work the Cancer Council does," she said.
"Dogs give us so much love and companionship and I can't think of anything worse than sitting in a doctor's office and being told you have cancer. This is a way that we can help."
The PMDG held a similar fundraiser in 2019, however the event was postponed last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
"Our first event in 2019 was quite small so it's great to see all of the members here who came along this year," Jean said.
Around 25 members of the group attended the event as well as 22 dachshunds.
"We have raised $1415 for the Cancer Council and I'm so thankful that the members came along and supported such a good cause."
The group also went on a neighbourhood walk, held a red carpet fashion parade and played some games while enjoying their morning tea.
Group member Kathleen Burke has recently moved to Port Macquarie and made her dog's police costume herself.
"My husband is a police officer and I made the costume for my dachshund Bonnie out of his old shirt," she said.
"When we lived in Moree she was quite a star in her police outfit and her photo was shared over the police Facebook pages."
Jean said she is proud of the group's fundraising efforts.
"Thank you to everyone for coming along and supporting this cause and for all of your effort in making the beautiful costumes for your dachshunds," she said.
