The boys, from Hill Top, in NSW's Southern Highlands, took turns playing the baby daughter of Megan Smart's character Ivy Azizi who grapples with post-natal depression in the series.
Their combined role makes a debut in the first episode as Ivy panicked about raising splashing water in her newborn's eyes and raising her outside the institution.
Mrs Weerman said she saw an advertisement on Facebook that specified twins were required for a new series and sent through details of her sons.
Within days, she was notified that her 19-month-old boys got the part.
"We all felt really proud and overwhelmed with such happiness seeing them on our screen," she said.
"They were happy that they were twins.
"When they needed an upset baby, there was always one that was upset and one that was happy to be on set.
"Plus, it's something we can show them when they're older as a keepsake memory."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mrs Weerman said she did not discover the name of the series until she arrived on set, and stayed with one twin whilst the other was filming in the other room.
Wakefield playwright Kristen Dunphy said extras were hired from the Highlands for different roles in the series.
"We hired local extras rather than bringing them up," she said.
"It gave us a chance to inject money into the local economy."
Wakefield was filmed across the NSW Blue Mountains and featured NSW Southern Highland spots like Fitzroy Falls, Bundanoon train station and Whytes Clothing and Tailoring in Moss Vale.
