You snooze, you lose.
A costly 10-minute nap late in the first half proved to be Camden Haven Redbacks' undoing as they were bundled out of the FFA Cup in the fourth round on Sunday.
The Redbacks matched it with Coastal Premier League heavyweights Boambee for 80 of the 90 minutes.
But three goals in 10 minutes late in the first half proved costly for Camden Haven as Boambee cruised to a 5-2 win.
Redbacks captain Riley Papas admitted having to play a second game in two days partially contributed to their brief lapse in concentration although the better side won.
"Ten minutes before halftime we switched off a little bit and had a bit of a nap and a team that good is going to put three goals on you," he said.
"From there it's hard to come back."
Rob Holland and Josh Friedewald found the back of the net in the second half as the Redbacks stood toe-to-toe with their highly-fancied opponents.
"To have 2-all result in the second half ... the club and boys can be incredibly proud of what they did," Papas said.
"It's not an easy task to play a team like Boambee at the best of times without having to play 90 minutes the day before."
Papas suggested the lack of a Zone Premier League competition also played a role in the outcome.
"The only competition we have in the Football Mid North Coast zone with no ZPL - and that's with no disrespect to the other teams - is that the other teams lack a bit of quality," he said.
There were only a handful of times where the Redbacks were "standing half a yard off their man and it cost us".
"If you're in the competitive environment more often you know when to close down further and push that little bit extra.
"Boambee are a strong side and it showed, but it gave me confidence if we're in that comp (the CPL) we'd be more than competitive with more than half the teams.
"We haven't had a game of that level for more than 12 months."
