Not only did the St Columba Anglican School duo return from the trip to Coolangatta Beach with as the second-best pairing in the year 7/8 division, they also claimed gold as a team of four with two other Sydney teammates.
The tournament ran from April 30 until May 2.
Volleyball talent flows through the Beard family with father David an ex-Olympian which was part of the reason why Olsen gave the sport a go.
"Before at SCAS there was nothing to do with volleyball until Levi's dad came to the school, introduced it and started programs in the morning and that's how I met Levi," Olsen said.
"We kept doing it and we got better."
While Beard and Olsen were beaten by two sets to nil in the final of the pairs by The Gap State High School from Queensland, they enjoyed the experience.
"They seemed to hit everything in and they had a lucky game, but we weren't playing our best volleyball which happens sometimes," Beard said.
"That was the end of the beach volleyball season and now it moves to indoor where you can try out for the NSW team in the middle of the year.
"There's a bunch of schools' indoor cup tournaments we can go to as a school."
