Port Macquarie Garden Club president Mary Biden has shared tips about how to look after your garden following the deluge and as winter approaches.
Ms Biden said the garden club advised people to gently till the soil, then gradually go deeper to aerate the soil.
"You need to nurture the soil and that will in turn nurture the plants," she said.
A tonic such as a seaweed solution can also boost struggling plants.
Ms Biden said the rain had washed some of the goodness out of the soil, and she advised gardeners to use a fertiliser containing minerals and nutrients likely to be leached out.
Now is also the ideal time to prune plants in your garden.
"Everything [in the garden] following the floods should have a bit of a nip and tuck," Ms Biden said.
"Even if they are strong, healthy plants that don't usually need a prune, I would take them back a few inches."
Port Macquarie Garden Club is back, and seeking new members, after a break from meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The club meets at 2pm on the second Tuesday of the month at the Salvation Army Hall at 110 Lord Street.
There is also a club outing on the third Tuesday of the month.
"The garden club is back and delighted to have that companionship again about a subject dear to our hearts," Ms Biden said.
Anyone interested in joining the club can call Mary Biden on 0488 502123 or attend one of the meetings.
The garden club has also launched a new website.
